Rebel Rose Newsletter April

Hello all you Rebels!

The Rebel Rose Life team was out and about enjoying the gracious big Texas hospitality at the Dallas Western Apparel and Accessories Show. Our kimono collection and hip skirts were on the runwayand the crowd loved them! We were excited to see their reactions as they watched and learned about who and what Rebel Rose Life is and has to offer.

We were most excited to have shared the runway with the famous special guest designer Custo Barcelona from Spain! The new collection is very chic’ and glamorous. We were also able to enjoy many other collectionssuch as our dear friend Pat Dahnke who was celebrated for her 50 years in the western couture world. We are privileged to know her.

Rebel Rose Life FashionNow that we are back in Scottsdale, we have begun our fall designs and are, of course, diligently working on our orders. Sadly, we lost some boxes of inventory on the shipment home, which we hope to recover, and we will continue on with our production at the studio to complete the orders we have promised.

This week here in AZ, we are supporting our own Eco Fashion Week. We took part in the challenge to Upcycle a garment from used clothing. Sustainability from design to final product is something we all need to think about; consider where your clothes are made, how they are made and by whom.

It is a daunting thought, but we all need to be more aware of what we support in what we buy. We have many choices, so just do a little more research in your fashion choices, an easy way to begin is by just doing that! As a consumer you have the ability to make a difference in how fashion is produced. So, go for it! We did and here is the result of our Upcycle challenge piece!

Silver has a Lustrous History

Since the dawn of civilization silver has been a captivating metal. For centuries, it’s been used to mark historical milestones, celebrations, achievements and special occasions. As early as 3000 BC ambassadors from Crete brought elaborate silver vases to Egyptian rulers.

The lustrous metal’s popularity has even influenced our language and customs. “Not every man is born with a silver spoon in his mouth” came from a translation of Spanish author Cervantes’ work ‘Don Quixote’ where he cleverly coined this term used to signify wealth.

In ancient China babies were traditionally given a silver necklace. This was placed around their neck and was believed to have the power to ward off evil spirits.

While silver is on every continent, most silver is found in Peru and Mexico, where the metal has been mined since 1546. Some of the earliest silversmith’s were from this area including the Inca of the Andes, who believed gold was the sweat of the sun, and silver came from the tears of the moon.

Besides being beautiful, one of the best traits of silver is it plays well with others. It’s a soft metal (too soft to use for crafting in its pure form) and can be combined with other metals to create Sterling Silver (925 Silver), a mixture of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals. Typically, copper is the other metal used in the mixture although germanium, zinc and platinum can also be used.

Green is the New Black! Arizona ECO Fashion Week 2019

As members of the Arizona fashion industry we truly care about sustainable and responsible practices. We’re excited to be attending Arizona ECO Fashion Week 2019, April 22 – 27, where we will be joining a community of experts, designers, and students for a week of education, engagement and entertainment exploring eco fashion, slow fashion, and sustainability in the business of fashion.

Held at locations in downtown Tempe, Az, the week of events kicks off with an Earth Day Celebration and ends with a sustainability-inspired fashion show at the Fashion and Business Resource Innovation Center, or FABRIC.

Arizona ECO Fashion Week’s aim is to shed light on the unsustainable practices of the modern apparel manufacturing industry and highlight sustainable solutions. We hope to educate and engage Arizona designers, businesses, academics, youth, students, experts, and leaders in the community to explore a new frontier in the business of ECO Fashion.

Thank You for Visiting Us at the Dallas Western Market

It was great to meet so many store owners and managers when we spent a few days at the end of March at the Dallas Western Market.

The organizers have announced a record-setting event of its March Dallas Western Market. The event had a 25% increase in attendance by western stores from across the U.S. and internationally and a 39% increase in the number of new stores who have not previously attended the show.

The market was also supported by steady order writing in the showrooms and exhibit booths as well as inspiring events and entertainment.

In response to multiple requests, we are extending our Dallas Western Market special of 20% discount on all orders of $1000 or more on silver jewelry. We are also offering free shipping on all orders of $500 or more of three items per line per color. But you must act fast – this is a very limited time extension of this offer!

Rebel Rose Life is a collection of unique apparel and jewelry for strong, confident, and independent women who want to stand out from the crowd and are interested in self-expression in a tasteful manner, yet with a sense of sisterhood with likeminded women.
